Firefly is delighted to announce that Saloni More is the winner of the 2022 Ellie Maxwell Award. She is a third year medical student at Edinburgh University who co-founded the Mahim Aboli Foundation (MAF) with her sister Saniya More.
It is a non-profit organisation that aims to improve the level of education (Project Vistaar) and healthcare (Project Arogya) available to Zillha Parishad (ZP) schools in Mahim, a small city north of Mumbai. Congratulations on this well deserved acknowledgement of what the project achieves for this vulnerable community.
Our three judges, Cathy Ratcliff CEO and Director of International Programmes at EMMS International, Olivia Giles founder/director of 500 Miles and Ben Maxwell, Firefly trustee and brother of Ellie Maxwell had a very large and high quality application to contend with this year. A big thank you to them for their hard work on this.
Saloni will receive £1000 of seed funding and mentoring support to help her to develop her project. We will hold an award ceremony in Edinburgh in September.
