Firefly’s partners have successfully adapted their programmes in the face of Covid-19

Over the last year Firefly’s partner projects in Turkey, Syria and Bosnia have worked very hard to create and adapt programmes which enable continuity of learning for the thousands of children they support.

Firefly for Syrians has continued to work face to face wherever possible due to C19 restrictions and has reached up to 650 children per month in Turkey and Syria. Giving them high-quality maths, science and Arabic language activities.
The team has developed a YouTube lesson channel with two thousand especially designed online lessons uploaded to reach children restricted to home by Covid.
This channel has had over 270,000 views (we would expect 50,000 views from the children registered in our programme)
This uptake is evidence of the quality of our online learning programme in that it has reached over 5 times as many children than would have been expected.

Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) has successfully continued its work with young people to build tolerance between the nationalities through creative activity. In addition, they have developed a safe online space where young people have been able to share their fears, anxieties and depression caused by Covid-19 and isolation.

Gaza Emergency Appeal

On the 11th of May the building where Firefly, IMET2000 and ACT International support a clinic for counselling children with PTSD was bombed.
The building had been evacuated and no one was hurt but for already traumatised children the news that this had happened was devastating.
There are already many requests from caregivers to resume the children’s treatment and our staff, Mohammed and Haitham, want to seek a new clinic and resume their work as soon as possible.

Please support us to make this happen.
