Scottish charity Firefly International is 20 years old this year. To celebrate, we are creating a new award in honour of Firefly’s inspirational founder Ellie Maxwell.

Firefly at 20 is also to showcase our work and to say thank you to our donors, supporters and volunteers. It is being organised by the Edinburgh team – Diana McMicking, Margot Coles and Tor Crawley as well as a group of Edinburgh student volunteers.

The Old Quad of Edinburgh University will be lit up by world renowned artist Bruce Munro‘s  Fireflies installation which will welcome you to an evening of performance, tribute and fun.

The evening will include exhibitions of artwork by Derek Robertson RSW SSA and Iman Tajik, plus words by Marjorie Lofti Gill and music from Kuchke, a polyphonic Balkan choir. All artists and performers are kindly donating their work and time for the evening.

Amal Azzudinwho co-founded The Glasgow Girls, will give the keynote speech. ‘The Glasgow Girls’ work culminated in changing the law on asylum protocols and Amal speaks regularly to young people on youth empowerment.
